Pat’s workshop will focus on textile design, experimentation and sustainability, utilising recycled materials from local Prato mills. In addition to the weaving workshop, this trip also includes industry, museum and atelier visits.

Swedish craft and design school Capellagården, founded by Carl Malmsten in 1960 on the island of Öland, has become a meeting place for craftspeople from all over the world. Capellagården grow their own flax and cultivate a dye plant garden. Our textile workshop includes processing linen from flax to thread, natural dyeing and weaving.

This workshop is suitable for weavers of all levels.
Historical Weavings ~ Pisa & Lucca, Italy

We offer workshop only places for those who would like to join our craft workshops and make their own arrangements for accommodation, transport and meals. We currently have ‘Workshop Only’ places available for the following courses:
Capellagården Textile Workshop ~ Öland, Sweden Mon 24 - Fri 28 June 2024 (5 days) Textile workshop “Linen – from fibre to fabric, dyed with natural pigments” at Swedish craft school Capellagården. The workshop includes processing linen from flax fibre to thread, dyeing with natural pigments and weaving a sample in linen with your own handspun and dyed yarn. The workshop is suitable for weavers with a small amount of experience as well as intermediate and experienced weavers. Workshop hours are approximately 9am - 4pm.
Ceramics Workshop ~ Copenhagen, Denmark Sat 14 - Tues 17 Sept 2024 (4 days) Advanced porcelain throwing course with Christian Bruun at his Charlottenlund studio in northern Copenhagen. This workshop is suitable for experienced potters. Workshop hours are approximately 10am - 3pm.

Danish Ceramics Workshop ~ Copenhagen, Denmark

Visit ceramic artists’ studios in Copenhagen and participate in a 4 day advanced porcelain workshop with Christian Bruun at his studio in Charlottenlund. Then attend the European Ceramic Context Biennale on the Danish island of Bornholm, Europe’s first region to be recognised as a ‘World Craft Region’ by the World Craft Council. This workshop is suitable for experienced potters.
Italian Folk Weaving ~ Tuscany & Umbria, Italy

This trip also includes visits to the Tuscan towns of Volterra and Bolgheri, and is suitable for weavers of all levels, including beginners through to experienced weavers.
